3 Simple Actions To Be Grateful For

It is usually around this season of gifts, family and cheer that the topic of gratitude rolls around. Yet somehow, it never seems to stick around too long. Before we know it, we’ve put gratitude up on the shelf and have moved on to something else (summer beach body here we come!).  How can we make gratitude a state of mind that we display throughout the year rather then a short list we tend to think about during the holiday season only?

Research has shown that displaying a grateful attitude will improve your physical, mental and emotional well being. According to an article in the Harvard Mental Health Letter, “Gratitude helps people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships.”

Not only does gratitude make you a happier person, but it also makes you a more attractive one as well! Think of positive and negative charged magnets, they can’t help but be drawn to each other. The same thing occurs when we display a grateful attitude, or target clients will gravitate our way and we will increase our book of business naturally.                                                                                                                                                                        

Be Grateful, Be Happy, Get Rich. This all sounds great, sign me up! If it were only that easy!

Let’s get real, making a list of five things we are grateful for once a year is easy, but having an attitude of gratitude all year is not! Just like the most important things in life, gratitude takes daily practice. Here are three things you can do to boost your gratitude daily.

Praise The Work You Don’t Notice

When you have properly trained your clients to go straight to your CSR for help, their work can easily go unnoticed.  Make sure you always let your CSR know that you appreciate the work they do, especially the work you don’t know about. Not only will this boost your attitude of gratitude, but you will also get in the habit of seeing the power in the little things they do every day.

Don’t Forget The Little Things

Make a habit of sending thank you cards/texts every time you receive a gift or have been shown some type of kindness by friends or colleagues. Has someone recently referred some business your way? Whether you closed the deal or not,  don’t forget to send that person a thank you text. It will only take you a few of minutes but will make a world of difference. Give Back

Be a part of something bigger than yourself and give back to your community. There are so many ways to give back, from becoming a mentor to a struggling agent to volunteering at your local food bank. Giving back is a two way street, trust me, the people you are serving will not be the only ones to benefit! Not only will your attitude of gratitude be growing but you will be strengthening your community along the way.

You’ve heard these simple steps a million times.  Now be grateful for the reminder and take action now to show got actually believe it.
